Here are some common questions you may have.

Information

Are there refunds?

Unfortunately, we DO NOT issue refunds. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible. Location and date are subject to change. We will make every effort to maintain the original date and location, however some locations may cancel or city regulations make a date or location impossible to use. Just make sure you are good to go before signing up. If for some reason you can’t make it to race day, at least come to the check in, pick up your Blacklight Run™ gear, and say hi to us!

Is Blacklight Run™ Timed?

The Blacklight Run™ 5k is not a timed event. Runners tend to take their sweet time, to ensure they get every morsel of the UV Glow Powder on themselves, and we realized no one really cares about their speed. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.

Do I have to wear the shirt provided?

No you do not! You can wear whatever shirt you like to the event. Just know that it might be covered in powder by the end of the run!

When and Where Can I Get My Packet?

Packet pickup is typically held the day before the event from 12-8PM. Specifics of each run’s packet pickup location and time can be found on the event’s page about two weeks before the event.

Can I get a friend's packet?

Yes, we do allow people to pick up packets for other people (team member, family, friends). As long as their waiver has been signed online (generally done during registration) you will just need to present their confirmation email. That way, we know you have permission to get your friends’ stuff!

What comes with a standard entry?

Runners will receive a Blacklight Run™ commemorative race shirt, a Blacklight Run Glow Pack, race bib with number, donation to charity, and admission to the best after party with a GLOW THROW every 15 minutes.

What's the difference between standard and vip?

Your VIP packet will include everything in the standard entry with a Blacklight Run VIP shirt instead of the standard white shirt. You will also get a pair of shutter shades, two LED Jelly Rings, access to VIP start chute, a glow powder pack at registration AND a glow powder pack at the finish line for our world famous after party!

Is there a charge for parking?

Yes there is typically a charge for parking (most venues charge @ $10 and are cash only) so please carpool to the event with your friends, family, or team!

Are pets allowed at the event?

No pets are allowed at any of the races.

Do you donate to a charity or cause?

YES, we do. Our vision for Blacklight Run™ event is bringing fundraising to local communities, fun and memories. We select a different local organization for each city. To see the charity we use for each city, check out the location’s page. Blacklight Run has a passion for Children’s Cancer Research.

Zones and
After Party

Are spectators allowed to the after party?

Absolutely! You may want to warn them though… they are not coming out of Blacklight Run™ after party clean!

Do the “Blacklight Zones” affect runner vision? Or breathing?

The Blacklight Run™ zones are basically food grade powder and are 100% natural and SAFE. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes . Some “Blacklight Runners” opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths. In summary: We work pretty hard to make it so our precious “Blacklight Runners” get as much or as little Glow on them as they like.

Do you have “cleaning stations” at the finish after party?

With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100% clean, but you are totally good for the drive home. It is actually pretty fun to see people still colored up around town after Blacklight Run™ event. If you wish to preserve your t-shirt, just spray your shirt with white vinegar and iron for a long lasting memory.

How does the color affect the inside of cars?

Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, just in case. It’s like driving home from the swimming pool in your wet swimsuits.

Are cameras and phones safe to have in the Blacklight Zones?
Our race photographers are totally fine shooting from a medium distance (25-50 feet). If you want to get shots right in the midst of the “Glow” we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap.

Registration
Questions

I bought Direct To You. When do I get my race packet?

You will be receiving your race packet about two weeks before the event. If you do not receive it a by the week before, please shoot us an email so that we can look into it for you.

How can I edit my registration?
You can edit your registration information directly from your RunSignUp user account by following these steps:
  1. Log into https://runsignup.com/
  2. Click the PROFILE link at the top
  3. Under Runner Links, click the “My Registered Races” link
  4. Select the VIEW/EDIT Registration link under the Blacklight Run Registration
  5. Here you can confirm the information on your registration
If you need to update your basic contact information, you can click the PROFILE link at the top of the page and then the EDIT PROFILE button
If you don’t see your registration record in your RunSignUp profile under “My Registered Races”, follow the steps to CLAIM YOUR REGISTRATION. If you can’t find your name on the FIND A PARTICIPANT tab for your race, contact service@blacklightrun.com for assistance.
How can I edit my shirt size?
  1. Log into: https://runsignup.com/
  2. Select the PROFILE link
  3. Under Runner Links click My Registered Races
  4. Under the event you have registered for, click “View/Edit Registration”
  5. Select the “Giveaway” tab
  6. Change your t-shirt size in the drop-down menu
  7. Hit the CONTINUE Button and Confirm Changes
How can I create/edit my team?
  1. Select the PROFILE link
  2. Under Runner Links click My Registered Races
  3. Under the event you have registered for, click “View/Edit Registration”
  4. Select the “Group/Team” tab Creating a team after you have registered
  5. In the orange section, choose the New Group/Team option
  6. Enter the team name and optional password
  7. Select the CREATE & JOIN NEW GROUP/TEAM button Changing your Team after you have registered
  8. In the orange section, choose the Existing Group/Team option
  9. Select the team you would like to join from the drop-down menu and enter a team password, if prompted
  10. Select the UPDATE GROUP/TEAM button

How can I pre-order accessories after I have already registered?
  1. Login to https://runsignup.com/
  2. Click the PROFILE link at the top
  3. Under Runner Links, click the “My Registered Races” link
  4. Select the VIEW/EDIT Registration link under the Blacklight Run Registration
  5. Click the “ADD-ONS” tab
  6. Select the Blacklight Run merchandise you would like to purchase and hit CONTINUE
  7. You will see the amount due on the next page. Enter your credit card information and CONFIRM PAYMENT.

 

How can I claim my registration?
  1. First, go to the race registration page for the event you are registered for.
  2. Select the FIND A PARTICIPANT tab
  3. Type in your First Name and Last Name and hit the SEARCH button
  4. Next to your name you will see a “Is this you?” link
  5. Click the link and hit the blue CLAIM button in the pop-up window:
  6. An email with claim instructions will be sent to the email address on the registration.
  7. In the email, click the CLAIM ACCOUNT link
  8. If you do not currently have a RSU user account, you can create one during the claim process:
  9. If you DO already have a RunSignUp user account, you can merge the membership with your current account by confirming the user information and selecting “Merge with Current User” under Option 2:
  10. Once your have claimed your registration, your will see it appear in your PROFILE under Runner Links>>My Registered Races.
Now that you have claimed your registration, you can manage your registration directly from your profile at any time.
How do I send myself the confirmation email?
You can resend yourself race confirmation email directly from your RunSignUp user account. We will resend everyone their confirmation email the week of the race, but you can access it at any time by following these steps:
  1. Login to https://runsignup.com/
  2. Click the PROFILE link at the top
  3. Under Runner Links, click the “My Registered Races” link
  4. Select the VIEW/EDIT Registration link under the Blacklight Run Registration
  5. Here you can click the “Resend Confirmation E-Mail” link at the top of the registration tab
  6. If you still aren’t receiving the confirmation email, confirm that the email address on your registration is correct or check your SPAM folder.
How can I transfer my registration?
Yes, you can definitely transfer your registration to another person. You can initiate the transfer from your RunSignUp registration profile by following these steps:
  1. Login to https://runsignup.com/
  2. Click the PROFILE link at the top
  3. Under Runner Links, click the “My Registered Races” link
  4. Select the VIEW/EDIT Registration link under the Blacklight Run Registration
  5. Click the “Transfer to Another Runner” tab
  6. Enter the First Name, Last Name and Email Address for the person you would like to transfer to
  7. Select TRANSFER AS GIFT (or Transfer for Refund)
  8. On the next page, confirm the transfer information and hit TRANSFER REGISTRATION
  9. The transfer recipient will receive an email from RunSignUp with a link to complete their registration information. Once they have submitted their registration information, they will be officially registered and you will be removed from the event
Can I transfer to another city/date?

We can transfer you to another city as long as you email us at least 2 days prior to the event. We cannot, however, if the race is already past. Please note that registrations must be used within the same calendar year as they were originally purchased for.

Glowers
Under 18

Is there an age requirement?
All ages are welcome!! This is a great family event with lots of fun, glow powder, music and memories.
If they can run or walk the 3 miles of the course, they can absolutely participate! You may also bring a stroller for the little ones Children 5 and under can run with an adult FREE of charge and do not need to register.
As soon as they turn 6 years of age, they will need to register and have a race bib! If the race recipient is under the age of 18 a parent guardian must sign a waiver on their behalf and be chaperoned with an adult over the age of 18.
Are strollers or wagons allowed?

Yes, as long as you are here to have a ton of fun and be the best parent in the world. Children 5 and under can run with an adult FREE of charge and DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER!

Do kids under the age of 6 need to register if they are free?

They do not need to be registered for the event! Our Little Glowers, 5 and under, can run with an adult FREE of charge and DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER!

If I am under 18 how do I get my packet? 0
You will need to have either your parent/guardian get your packet at the packet pickup location or on race day. If they cannot attend either you will need to have a copy of their ID and a signed copy of the waiver from your parent/guardian.

Weather

Weather Policies

Our participants’ safety is the most important thing and if any of the threatening weather conditions listed below are present the day of the event, the event may be delayed or canceled.

Threatening Weather Conditions

Blacklight Run will be canceled or delayed if any of the following weather conditions exist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch, Thunderstorm/Electrical Storm, “Heavy” Rain, other major weather condition.

Start of the Race / Cancellation of the Event

The start of the event will be delayed if any of the above mentioned conditions exist. The event will then be canceled if any of the weather conditions persist: Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch or Thunderstorm/Electrical Storm.

Authority to Cancel the Event

The Race Director, in accordance with the city and the local law enforcement, has the authority to cancel the event. If threatening weather conditions force cancellation of the event, no refunds can be provided, since funds were already spent in preparation for race day.
