Nope. There are plenty of more serious 5ks out there to test your speed and performance. Blacklight Run™ is all about a Glow crazy night with friends and family. You can run or walk, however you would like!
You register as a 2 person minimum team rather than as an individual. You get to pick a custom team name, anything from Glow2Nite to GloStrings. You then get to run/walk together and get glowed together. All team members can finish together or as a team.
Runners will receive a custom The Blacklight Run™ commemorative race shirt, a Blacklight Run Glow Pack, race bib with number, sponsor giveaways (varies from location to location), donation to charity, and admission to the best after party with a GLOW THROW every 15 minutes.
YES, we do. Our vision for Blacklight Run™ event is bringing fundraising to local communities, fun and memories. We select a different local organization for each city. To see the charity we use for each city, check out the location’s page. Blacklight Run has a passion for Children's Cancer Research.
Yes, as long as you are here to have a ton of fun and be the best parent in the world. Children 5 and under can run with an adult FREE of charge and DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER!
No Dogs are allowed at any of the races.
No Age limits. If they can run or walk the 3 miles of Blacklight Run™ course, they can absolutely do Blacklight Run™ 5k! As soon as they turn 6 years of age, they will need to register and have a race bib! Check out this picture showing kids ROLLING in the powder, It is sure to be a fun night for all.
Yes. The exact details of this depend on each city. These packet pick up details are posted to the city registration page. You will also recieve an email a few weeks prior to race day with all the details. Pre-Packet Pickup is available and is typically held the Thursday & Friday before the race from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
No, you will not be hurt at all. Picture it like getting into a flour fight and you lost.
The “Glow” does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting glowed.
The Blacklight Run™ zones are basically food grade powder and are 100% natural and SAFE. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes . Some “Blacklight Runners” opt to wear glasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths. In summary: We work pretty hard to make it so our precious “Blacklight Runners” get as much or as little Glow on them as they like.
With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100% clean, but you are totally good for the drive home. It is actually pretty fun to see people still colored up around town after Blacklight Run™ event. If you wish to perserve your t-shirt, just spray your shirt with white vinegar and iron for a long lasting memory.
Most people bring some towels for the insides of their cars, just in case. It’s like driving home from the swimming pool in your wet swimsuit:)
Absolutely. We will have Blacklight Run™ Glow Packs available first come/first serve for everyone to purchase. You may want to warn them though… they are not coming out of Blacklight Run™ after party clean!
Our race photographers are totally fine shooting from a medium distance (25-50 feet). If you want to get shots right in the midst of the "Glow" we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap.
The Blacklight Run™ 5k is not a timed event. Runners tend to take their sweet time, to ensure they get every morsel of the UV Glow Powder on themselves, and we realized no one really cares about their speed. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.
At the Blacklight Run After Party, the crowd will do a glow throw every 15 minutes to welcome new runners coming in. You receive a FREE Glow Pack at the finish line. Additional Blacklight Run Glow Packs are available for purchase.
Unfortunately, we DO NOT issue refunds. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible. Location and date are subject to change. We will make every effort to maintain the original date and location, however some locations may cancel or city regulations make a date or location impossible to use. Just make sure you are good to go before signing up. If for some reason you can’t make it to race day, at least come to the check in, pick up your Blacklight Run™ gear, and say hi to us!
Go to your account on Active.com at myevents.active.com/1n3llc to view your account and events. Choose the option “Transfer registration to another athlete” and then enter the email address of the person you are transferring it to. Or click on the link in your registration confirmation email that says “transfer to someone else” and it will prompt you to put the email address in for the person you are transferring it to. Once they claim their registration, it will refund your payment (minus the active.com processing fee) and ask the person receiving the transfer to pay the CURRENT price of the registration. Transferring will be available up until a week before the race.
Unfortunately we don’t have a way of transferring your registration from one city to another. But what you can do is transfer your registration to another runner (see instructions above). Then you can register for the city you WANT to run in!
